*Wild, Wild West* (PG-13) -- a violent peep show for adolescents.

Will Smith is found at the beginning of the movie swimming with a nude woman in a water tower, just like in *Petticoat Junction* for those of you old enough to remember, only in this 'Petticoat Junction' the nudity is real -- the actors were not wearing bathing suits hidden by the tank wall. In a few moments the tank tips over and Smith spills out bare as a newborn. Then he proceeds to get in a fight with several rough guys -- and beats them up, of course. While he is nude. Many might say "You don't see nothin'." Well, the "nothin'" I saw was about six feet across on the screen, glutemous fissure included. However much "nothin'" is not seen, you can certainly tell that Smith (or his stand-in) is trim and fit.

Bare bottoms, excessive cleavage, and lots of sexual innuendo, comments and discussion were the blue plate special in this movie. The rugged and unrefined opulence of the old west was well re-created but year-appropriate hi-tech gadgetry led the viewer into mayhem and murder -- bloody murder -- twice. The hi-tech gadgetry was also used to mow down an entire regiment of soldiers. And guns - lots of guns and threats with them, a disembodied head, a story of slaughtering women and children for target practice, and destruction of an entire small town appeared in the choreography and script.

While each individual issue of unacceptable programming may seem slight or minor, the sheer number of them drug the score of this movie down to numerically equivalent to R-rated material of 1995/96

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
