EXECUTIVE SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

"True Crime" (R) -- a 'crime' itself. An aging Clint Eastwood saves the life of a man condemned to be executed. And the viewer is NOT spared the mechanisms and miseries of modern execution by lethal injection. A very emotionally charged movie. Could have been a good movie if not for the 104 uses of unacceptable language, the graphic gore, the sexual content, the.......

Among the plethora of examples of unacceptable language includes a phrase about our Lord Jesus I will not relate to you even cryptically because I don't believe Jesus wants you to have to do battle with getting those most sacrilegious words out of your mind. A traffic fatality, dialogue about execution, a child in death row lockup, blood-smeared murder victims, and a long sequence of execution apparatuses in operation were a few of the violence issues of "True Crime." Of additional significance to the Christian was the somewhat hidden portrayal that all things can be done without Jesus -- a most unChristian-like reporter "saved the world" (at least the condemned man's life) and was Pulitzer Prize material after expressing hate for Jesus.

Though not as sexual a movie as many R-rated movies are, "True Crimes" presented nudity through translucent underwear, heterosexual couples in bed, and a homosexual offer. Skimpy dress, a street bum begging for sex from solitary women, and vulgar gestures did not help the Sex/Homosexuality score.

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain, whether literal or euphemistic.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Presentation of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
