NOTE: We make no scoring allowances for Hollywood's trumped-up "messages" to excuse, or its manufacturing of justification for aberrant behavior or imagery. This is NOT a movie review service. It is a movie analysis service to parents and grandparents to tell them the truth about movies using the Truth. If you do not want the plot, ending, or "secrets" of a movie spoiled for you, skip the Summary/Commentary. In any case, be sure to visit the Findings/Scoring section -- it is purely objectuve and is the heart of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model applied to this movie.
SUMMARY / COMMENTARY: Mission: Imposible II (PG-13) -- Tom Cruise = Pierce Brosnan = Ian Flemming? And another movie one point above "R-13" IMF Agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) starts the menagerie with rock climbing of devil-may-care defiance of death. His hotdog arrogant snubbing of danger on the rocks sets the pattern for the rest of his super-spy antics. I can't help but see a little boy wearing his daddy's police hat spouting "Yer under arrest" as he storms unarmed into the den the bad guys. But such a facade makes for slightly exciting programming in this encyclopedia of high-tech international battle with super villainy of best seller novel proportions to recapture the secret vial of deadly virus used by the bad guys to hold the world hostage. Too bad the ignominy has to spoil it all. All manner of violent challenging of danger and aggression and daring of death bespeckle this flick about 25 times an hour: firearm threats, reckless driving for recreation and pursuit, chopping off fingertips, gore, many deaths by gunfire and explosion, many of them quite graphic [Prov. 3:31-32]. In near neck-to-neck competition with Violence/Hate is Sex/Homosexuality: tons of excessive cleavage, sexual talk and innuendo, sensual dress and movement, ghosting through thin clothing, undressing in mixed company and sexual favor for gain [1Ths. 4:3; Rom. 13:13]. Running a close third to Violence/Crime is foul language and other matters of Impudence/Hate such as contemplation of suicide and, what else, lies [Rev. 21:27]. All these competitors for the least scoring combined to give this movie a score one point above the scoring range for R-rated movies almost making it a "R-13." I apologize for not being able to give you a better description of plot and programming, but that is what happens when you have to wait so long before writing the Summary/Commentary. Fret not, however. If I waited years to plug the worksheet annotations into the computer the listing of findings and the scoring would still be the same. And on that I leave the rest of this analysis report to the Findings/Scoring section. FINDINGS / SCORING: NOTE: Multiple occurrences of each item described below may be likely.
