EXECUTIVE SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

"The F Zone", PG-13 -- it's not what you might expect of the entertainment industry. It stands for "Federal Zone." Citizens who do not live in federal zones such as Washington DC and others are the only ones who are legally required to pay federal income tax. At least, that is what the movie tells you.

A male actor contemplated suicide by placing a gun in his mouth and to his chin (the suicide did not happen). A scene of sexual intercourse was masked to the point of no exposure to private regions of the human body. Gestapo-style federal police action brutalized three women at the beginning of the show. The chief thug in the federal police coterie was mighty rude, bitter, and despicable. Three staged murders (known by the audience as staged) which were somewhat graphic and might need your wisdom to explain them to younger folks. There were none of the typical three/four letter vocabulary words and none of the most foul of foul words. The less polite expression for "ticked off" was used once. There were sexual innuendo, an adult male in a shower, and gaping mouth kissing. Only one instance of Drugs/Alcohol which was unmistakably alcoholic was noted in the form of drinking to deal with sorrows. And only one use of God's name in vain without the four letter expletive was noted. Also found were Hollywood style of preacher talk (which is rarely accurate - usually made to sound Spiritual but upon inspection is not) and talking to a grave (or the 'resident' of it) for advice.

FINDINGS / SCORING: The F Zone (1998) CAP Thermometers

Wanton Violence/Crime (W):
  • unnecessary use of force by police
  • despicable attitude of law enforcement official
  • abuse of government authority
  • intimidation at gunpoint
  • shouting argument
  • childish display of anger
  • talk of and contemplation of suicide with firearm at head
  • Gestapo-style police beating with inappropriate touch
  • stupidity with firearms and abuse of the authority they present
  • three staged murders

    Impudence/Hate (I)(1):
  • one use of the less polite expression for "ticked off"

    Sex/Homosexuality (S):
  • sexual innuendo
  • adult male in shower
  • gaping-mouth kissing
  • masked sexual intercourse

    Drugs/Alcohol (D):
  • drinking to deal with sorrows

    Offense to God (O)(2):
  • one use of God's name in vain without the four letter expletive

    Murder/Suicide (M)(3):
  • none noted

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain, whether literal or euphemistic.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Presentation of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
