SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

*Detroit Rock City* (R) -- another unmerited freedoms movie.

*Detroit Rock City* presented a quartet of teen boys demanding the freedom to travel to Detroit, Michigan to see the rock group KISS. In the movie, a cheaply portrayed mother identified that name as "Knights in Service to Satan." This movie is one of those which destroys the true definition of the Christian -- a cheap and ultra-misleading shot at the demands of obedience to His expectations of us by portraying a bitterly demanding mother using the Scriptures as her justification for such unwarranted demands on her son [Is. 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"]. Toward the end her son was seen screaming obscenities at her: a p-e-r-f-e-c-t example of the entertainment industry drumming up "messages" and manufacturing justification for aberrant behavior.

Vulgar and foul language and sexual material were the most prevalent in this movie. The most foul of the foul words was used in all variations at least 80 times, once by a drunken Catholic school Priest. The three/four letter word vocabulary came out of the mouths of the actors at least 72 times [Mark 7:20 "He (Jesus) went on: 'What comes out of a man is what makes him unclean."]. Sexual material, including a male porno bar, strip dancing, and All manner of 'big city evil' was fully represented in *Detroit Rock City*. The residents of Sodom and Gomorrah would have been flattered.

A special note to those who leave hate mail and death threats: I am NOT looking down my nose at you. I do NOT have a holier-than-thou judgmentalistic heart. I love you as much as I love those who appreciate this ministry. I am trying to share with everyone His expectations of us; to rekindle a once wholesome embracement of and reliance on His Word. I did not write these 'rules'. They were written a long, long time before I was ever born. Please consider them in the light of His Perfect Love for you and I.

    Offense to God (O)(2):
  • God's name in vain twice with the four letter expletive and 13 times without
  • mockery of the Gospel and of Christianity
  • display of the Horned Hand gesture (see "Back to School Special")

    Murder/Suicide (M)(3):
  • none noted


    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
