SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

SUMMARY/COMMENTARY *Bowfinger* (PG-13) -- a very sexual movie with no nudity noted.

*Bowfinger* is very sexual indeed. Albeit "light" sexual programming, almost every scene had some sort of sexual content. The sheer number of sexual matters and issues resulted in a score of zero for the Sex/Homosexuality Investigation Area. Likewise, the sheer number of cuss words and lies resulted in a score of zero for the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area.

I am somewhat surprised that Heather Graham (playing the part of Daisy) would play a Donnybrook sex-crazed 'yes girl' fresh off the bus from Ohio sleeping with as many men (and women) as possible to get ahead, but she did. She used sex to gain personal favor as an actress in this slight movie about making a bad movie. Steve Martin stars as Bobby Bowfinger, the producer and director of a slack movie called *Chubby Rain*. Eddie Murphy stars as Kit Ramsey, an untouchable and highly sought star for the movie and as his look-alike brother, Jiff Ramsey. One of the corruptive dialogues presented was [to Graham from Martin] "It's over between you and I. You had sex with Jiff." [Graham's reply] "So?" [Martin's reply] "I never thought of it that way." Just another step in the decline of respect for a moral sexual relationship: in the decline of sexual inhibition. Not only was the portrayed sexual encounter outside of marriage, it was with as much sincerity as a hiccup. [1Cor. 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.]

And language -whew- Just about every example of the three/four letter word vocabulary was used repeatedly, almost all by Murphy [Prov. 8:13 "To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech"; Matt. 12:36-37 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."]. God's name in vain was also used frequently but at least without the four letter expletive as far as I could tell [Deut. 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.]. The movie also presented lying to manipulate goals and outcomes so flippantly that it seemed normal and indeed desirable to say whatever was needed for the particular situation. [Prov. 6:16-17 "There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue..."].

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
