NOTE: We make no scoring allowances for Hollywood's trumped-up "messages" to excuse, or its manufacturing of justification for aberrant behavior or imagery. This is NOT a movie review service. It is a movie analysis service to parents and grandparents to tell them the truth about movies using the Truth. If you do not want the plot, ending, or "secrets" of a movie spoiled for you, skip the Summary/Commentary. In any case, be sure to visit the Findings/Scoring section -- it is purely objectuve and is the heart of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model applied to this movie.
SUMMARY / COMMENTARY: *American Psycho* (R) -- the first CAP Zero of more than 320 analyses. The *Texas Chainsaw Massacre*, Alfred Hitchcock's original *Psycho* and every other slasher/killer show ever made all rolled into one. Each of the six CAP Investigation Areas revealed enough unacceptable programming to earn a zero score. Other than telling you there is a lot of insane screaming-while-crying-while-laughing while committing slicing, dicing murder -- and cannibalism -- I will not waste my time or yours detailing the events in this movie. If you want to know the ignominies in it, see the Findings/Scoring below. The Findings/Scoring is the heart of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model anyway. BUT BE WARNED. It is most difficult to describe vulgar and extreme behavior without sounding almost as vulgar and extreme. If I had not promised a mother of a 12 year old boy with a 13 year old friend who somehow got into this movie -- the 13 year old was apparently "changed" -- that I would conduct the analysis, I would have walked out of the theater just like the theater manager strongly suggested. There is no listing of Chapter and Verse references for this movie. There is not enough room. FINDINGS / SCORING: NOTE: Multiple occurrences of each item described below may be likely. Wanton Violence/Crime (W): Impudence/Hate (I)(1): Sex/Homosexuality (S): Drugs/Alcohol (D): Offense to God (O)(2): Murder/Suicide (M)(3): |
