(While the Scriptural references are certainly not subjective, my commentary may be and sometimes is somewhat subjective.)
Production (US): Cloud Ten Pictures Distribution (US): Cloud Ten Pictures Director(s): André van Heerdon Producer(s): Paul LaLonde, Grant R. Jeffrey, Michael Walker, Dr. Katherine Albrecht Host: Grant R. Jeffrey Writing Credits: André van Heerdon Film Editing: Steve hutchings Viewed at Cloud Ten Pictures Online Screening Room This film will make little sense to most children mainly because of the typically underdeveloped experiential maturity of most children. But what it has to say could be very sobering and even disturbing to you as educated and informed adults. It delves deeply into surveillance practices, loss of freedoms and ... shadow government. The film reports that knowledge is doubling every four years now and much of that knowledge is applied to clandestine, secretive gathering of personal information in ways of which most of us are not and cannot be aware. One expert claimed "We, the people" have become we, the chattel. With a final score of 95 out of 100 Shadow Government earns its place in the range of scores earned by G-rated films (87 to 100 out of 100) in the comparative baseline database. But it has some teeth you might want to know about before you determine for which audience this film is fit. If only one of the investigation area scores (W, I, S, D, O, M) is 86 or less out of 100, the film earns the yellow CAPCon Alert light. That is the case for this film. If the Shadow Government content would have earned just nine more points in the just Wanton Violence/Crime investigation area, it would have earned the rare green CAPCon Alert light. Wanton Violence/Crime (W) - 77 out of 100 There are images of the destruction of a large business building which is obviously used on a daily basis. When discussing Hitler's tactics there is a scene of massive deaths indicated by many human skulls. Though no firearm is discharged at anyone in this film, firearms are used for autocratic purposes. Some military weaponry and maneuvers seen with transporting an injured soldier and a scene of a double hanging by the neck can disturb many. As with any violence, whether it be real or in and as entertainment, each exposure to violence can and does proselytize and even embolden many. God warned us of this a long, long time ago in Prov. 16:29 and other verses, long before four professional public health agencies finally came around to agree with God whether intentional or even knowingly. Impudence/Hate (I) - 96 out of 100 Also as part of the visuals used when the film discusses Hitler's tactics, a scene of many Jewish folks were forced against a wall, thus expressing his hatred of the Jewish people through his intense persecution of them. [Rom. 12:18] Sexual Immorality (S) - 96 out of 100 The only instance of anything that remotely approaches sexual material was the scene of the computer generated wire frame image of the naked human body. Drugs/Alcohol (D) - 100 out of 100 No use or possession of illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages or abuse of prescription drugs were noted. Offense to God (O) - 100 out of 100 God's name was not abused even once. There were no demonstrations of cult/occult practices, Satanism, sorcery, witchcraft or the like and no glorification of the self above Him. Murder/Suicide (M) - 100 out of 100 There were no murders or suicides seen in this film. SCRIPTURAL APPLICATION(S) If needed to focus or fortify, applicable text is underlined or bracketed [ ] or bold. If you wish to have full context available, the Blue Letter Bible is a convenient source. If you use the Blue Letter Bible, a new window will open. CHAPTER/VERSE ***Selected Scriptures of Armour against the influence of the entertainment industry*** As always, it is best to refer to the Findings/Scoring section -- the heart of the CAP analysis model -- for the most complete assessment possible of this movie. |

There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
