Ocean's Twelve (2004). Almost two peas out of the same pod. In the graphic data comparative below, one can draw that Ocean's Twelve:
And both are R-13. Interesting. The reason for the PG-13 was language. There was a rather lengthy session of four-letter bickering between two guys that rivaled the moral putrescence in South Park: BLU. Though the actual expletives were bleeped out, the mouthing of the words was unmistakable. Danny Ocean (George Clooney), a.k.a. Miguel Diaz was approached by Tony Benedict (Andy Garcia), the victim of Ocean's Bellagio Casino heist in Ocean's Eleven. [Hab. 2:9] If the Eleven did not pay back $160 million in two weeks, they would each become little more than a memory. [Ps. 62:10] Even though the casino's insurance covered the loss, Benedict wanted it back from the Eleven. But they were short ... more than $90 million. So, they decided to steal $160 million to pay back Benedict by stealing an extremely valuable Faberge egg. See users.vnet.net/schulman/Faberge/eggs.html for examples of Faberge Eggs. It is clear that Ocean's Twelve is an attempt to recapture the success of Ocean's Eleven. At least the filmmakers added the twelfth character, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Isabel Lahiri, a Europol cop. Lahiri was Ocean's nemesis and spent most of the 119 minutes of the film chasing Ocean and the Twelve. The most severe loss was due to foul language. [Col. 3:8] While a man and a woman were noted in bed kissing, him dressed and her in night wear, there were no intercourse or other issues of physical lust. Rear male nudity ghosting through translucent pajamas was about the most graphic of all the "lesser" (see http://www.capalert.com/capruleof1000.htm) issues of sexual immorality such as innuendo, rude gazes and excessive cleavage. [Gal. 5:19, 1Ths. 4:3, 1 Cor. 6:18] Drinking was relatively often as was smoking. The use of God's name in vain was also relatively frequent though each time was without the four letter expletive. [Deut. 5:11] As there were no murders or suicides in Ocean's Eleven there were none noted in this sequel. The listing in the objective heart of the CAP analysis model, the Findings/Scoring section will reveal all that was noted. (The heart of the CAP Analysis Model) Wanton Violence/Crime (W) Impudence/Hate (I) Sexual Immorality (S) Drugs/Alcohol (D): Offense to God (O) Murder/Suicide (M) |
There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our more than eight years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
