JURASSIC PARK III (PG-13) -- more of the same.

After being grounded by a tow boat crash, hang gliding teenager Eric Kirby (Trevor Morgan) and pal land on East Isla Sorna, the alternate development site for the Jurassic Park theme park. Switching back to the states, Dr. Alan grant (Sam Neil) is lecturing to a crowd of people who only want to hear him tell of his escapades in Jurassic Park and San Francisco (the stage location of The Lost World: Jurassic Park). Switching again but this time to Grant visiting with Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) to tell her of his new discovery that Raptors can actually verbalize to each other. Ellie is now married to an international lawyer and with a toddler son. She is not wearing shorts that get shorter through the movie this time. Dern's appearance in the movie appears to be token for connectivity.

At a dig site, Grant is again approached for his expertise but this time by Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy, Téa Leoni). Paul tells Grant that through special contacts with government officials he has been granted permission to fly over the restricted area of East Isla Sorna to view the dinosaurs there. Being tempted by a huge grant from the Kirby's, Grant reluctantly agrees to escort the Kirby's over East Isla Sorna. An associate of Grant's, Billy Brennan (Alessandro Nivola) has developed a "voicebox" that will reproduce the sounds of the Raptor but not the language. Sort of like the duck call hunters use. The user blows in one end and Raptor "words" come out the other. Of interesting casting is Mr. Noodle from "Sesame Street." I do not know his name but what a character shift for Mr. Noodle!

I will stop there and not spoil any more of the movie for you if you opt to spend your money on it. There is not much more to the plot anyway. It is fo the most part more of the same. Scanning the secular reviews reveals not much positive to say about Jurassic Park III. But I an not a movie critic and do not want to be, so I'll not try to share with you the reasoning the less-than-desirable takes on the movie of the secular reviewers.

Violence and gore is about all there is to Jurassic Park III. The three/four letter word vocabulary was uses five times [Prov. 17:20]. God's name in vain was uttered nine times but each without the four letter expletive [Deut. 5:11]. Sexual material was sparse and presented itself only as a female in underwear, her anatomy ghosting through thin clothing and two instances of camera angle to force the viewer's focal field on female private parts [Rev. 3:18]. There was no nudity or even partial nudity noted in Jurassic Park III. What a refreshing finding in comparison to PG-13s like Titanic, Cider House Rules and others which present nudity, both male and female. Jurassic Park III earned a CAP Final Score equivalent to PG-13 movies but at the very top of the scoring range earned by PG-13 movies (67 to 55) during verification and validation of the CAP analysis model. One less point loss would have placed Jurassic Park III in the scoring range earned by PG movies (86 to 68). "There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I aplaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our five-year study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings.

(1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

(2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication.

(3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
