Klassen Viewed At: Driftwood Theater 6 A long-time standard parents have used to teach their kids where others should not touch or see was the areas of the body covered by a bathing suit. Not 'ny more. At least not by the bathing suits in this film. The suits, magnified by the use of camera angle to force the viewer on private parts, appeared for the most part -- what there was of it -- to be token. It was exhibitionism galore, eye candy for the young teen boy to plant unclean thoughts and desires in his mind. [Matt. 5:28, Luke 17:2, Ps. 141:4, 3John 11] And this film could not have been more "R." With a final score of 19 out of 100 when R-rated films in the comparative baseline database ranged 54 and below out of 100, this film fits squarely into R-equivalence -- into the lower half of the R-equivalence. And it is all fit for your young teens, so sayeth the MPAA and their questionable survey techniques and questionable survey population. It doesn't matter what mom/dad say, dontchaknow? Gotta accept what others say is fit for your kids, right? Wrong! A group of divers, Jared (Paul Walker), Samantha (Jessica Alba - Sin City This film is still playing at theaters but since it has been more than two weeks since its opening, I am not going to spend a lot of time on a discussion about the plot and story. This film presents the full gambit of sin-ematic ignominy: violence [Prov. 16:29, Rom. 12:18, Prov. 13:2, Ps. 62:10]; foul language [2 Tim. 2:16, Eccl. 5:2]; sexual immorality [1 John 2:26]; consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs and drugs references including possession and consumption of illegal drugs [Eph. 5:18]; several uses of God's name in vain, mostly without the four letter expletive and once with it [Deut. 5:11]; a few murders, some graphic. [Nahum 3:1] Five of the six CAP investigation areas: Wanton Violence/Crime (W); Impudence/Hate (I); Sexual Immorality (S); Drugs/Alcohol (D); Offense to God (O) investigation areas found enough assaults on morality and decency to each earn a zero score. In fact, the content revealed by the Murder/Suicide (M) investigation area was the only investigation area which earned a score equivalent to PG-13 films in the comparative baseline database. The final score of 19 earned this film a score which makes it clearly yet one more "R-13" SCRIPTURAL APPLICATION(S) If needed to focus or fortify, applicable text is underlined or bracketed [ ] or bold. There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our more than eight years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
