A strong point. Indeed a campaign to inform of and to fight the influence of modern Hollywood. The influence of the Babylonian culture is named as the "heart" of modern Hollywood. I agree. May many learn through Hollywood Transformation of the true effects, whether intentional, of "Babylonywood." Much of what Hollywood Transformation has to say is presented in flowing interpretive dance, interspersed with comments from spiritual experts and professionals in the war with the influence of Hollywood. One of the skits of dance was quite descriptive of being released from the bondage of sin to the freedom of Salvation. An explosion of white gossamer radiating from a central dancer was displayed to depict the moment of freedom from bondage to sin through Salvation. Another of the dance routines was actually somewhat exciting. But none of them presented any form of immorality as does much dancing in popular secular films. Though elaborate and animated, there was nothing there to entice the king Herods of the world to want John the Baptist heads. Hollywood Transformation has the substance to go beyond the unfair label of "low-budget B film" that typically plagues the Christian filmmaking industry. When funding is so much lower than grandiose productions of multi-million dollar budgets, one must do a good job with what one has. And Kovacek does precisely that. It has the ability to lead the viewer into what is being said more than how and by whom it is being said. Let us pray that enough revenue is generated from this production for Kovacek to continue making Christian films. Many Christian films end with leaving the viewer to ponder Salvation, hoping that what has been said and seen will help the viewer make the Decision. Hollywood Transformation doesn't leave it up to chance. At the end of the film, strategically placed is a bright but somberly presented invitation by Janice Kovacek for all who see to come to the Lord and Savior to receive the free gift of Salvation through leading the viewer through the Sinner's Prayer. Of significant importance to the credibility of the film is the research performed to provide facts. The CAP research begins around 1955 with Rebel Without a Cause in which, for the first time in a highly popular film, a teenager (James Dean) was permitted - with impunity - to physically throw his father around their living room. A teenager (Sal Mineo) was portrayed as gay. And another teenager (Natalie Wood) was permitted to "make love" to the fender of a car. Teens were also portrayed as defying police with impunity who were portrayed as Gestapo rather than the caring public servants they are. Let me now connect what I just told you to this film. In Hollywood Transformation, one of the speakers reported that Jack Parsons declared himself as the antiChrist in 1949. The speaker continued that Parsons predicted that in seven years the spirit of Babylon would spread and within nine years this nation would have the influence of Babylon over it. These facts were told as they relate to the Babylonian influence over Hollywood and behind Hollywood productions (which certainly spread over the nation). Parsons said these things in 1949. Seven years later was 1956 -- one year after the production and release of Rebel without a Cause ... and the essential beginning of accepting such programming in and as entertainment. To add perspective to the influence of entertainment, of all the influences in a child's life, the only entity that more deeply and intimately saturates our children than the entertainment industry is air. As is inherent with story-telling involving a tale of debauchery and vileness, some of the programming in Hollywood Transformation was worthy of alerting you before you share the film with your children. Though not nearly as extreme as modern Hollywood productions, there was imagery of street sexual immorality [Rev. 21:8], of evil businesses of sorcery and witchcraft [Rev. 22:14-15], of bondage and torture (in interpretive dance/choreography). Because of these presences, inherent with effective story-telling, it would be advisable to at least read the listing of them in the Findings/Scoring section before joining with your children to watch this film. Hollywood Transformation earned a CAP final score equivalent to the scores earned by movies rated PG. NOTE: While the Summary/Commentary section of these reports is precisely that -- a summary in commentary format which can be and sometimes is subjective, the actual CAP Analysis Model (the Findings/Scoring section) makes no scoring allowances for trumped-up "messages" to excuse, for manufacture of justification for, or camouflaging of ignominious content or aberrant behavior or imagery with "redeeming" programming. Disguising sinful behavior in a theme/plot does not excuse the sinful behavior of either the one who is drawing pleasure or example of behavior or thought from the sinful display or of the practitioners demonstrating the sinful behavior. We make no attempt to quantify the "artistic" or "entertainment" value of a movie -- whether a movie has any positive value or "entertainment" value is up to mom/dad. The CAP analysis model is the only known set of tools available to parents and grandparents which give *them* the control they need, bypassing the opinion-based assessment of movies by others and defeating the deceit of those who would say anything to convince their parents otherwise. The model is completely objective to His Word. Our investigation standards are founded in the teachings and expectations of Jesus Christ. If a sinful behavior is portrayed, it is called sinful whether Hollywood tries to make it otherwise. That the sinful behavior is "justified" by some manufactured conditions does not soften nor erase the price of sin. Whether there is application of fantasy "justification" or "redemption" is up to mom/dad. |
"There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our more than eight years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
