Production (US): Baby Miracle Learning Company, FlagDay Productions Distribution (US): Hart Sharp Video, LLC., NYC Puppet Design and Creation: Patti Broussard, Art in the Dark Puppet Factory Narration: Araianna Straggas Music: Pastor Burns Stanfield, Sonya Kim, Nick Green, Christworthproductions.com Viewed on: Baby Miracle Learning Company DVD Baby Miracle Volume 1: The Story of Creation distills the complexity of Creation to the level of a toddler and small child using core concepts. Having been "daddy" to 31 kids, most of them toddlers and small children, I can tell you the delivery and cognitive requirements of the presentation and delivery are appropriate for parent-guided toddlers and small children. There was nothing morally offensive to the video whatsoever. This 33.5-minute video earned a CAP final score of 100. The six days of Creation presented in Genesis are presented sequentially showing contemporary representative examples of the work God did each day. For example, on the fifth day when God created birds and fish, the producers provide many examples of each accompanied by background music of, in my opinion, appropriate energy. The day-sequence is: Bright, colorful and lively visuals with carefully timed audio instruction should penetrate into at least the intermediate memory and quite possibly the long-term memory of the typical toddler. This video accomplishes this by speaking the name of an object such as a lion or the sky while the video shows action pictures of it with the text of the name captioned at the bottom of the screen. The producers added a special feature at the end of the video called video flashcards of the objects named in the video as structured guided imagery in performance-based learning. The flash cards delay display of the "answer" for a few seconds as your child tries to name the object. By the way, that adorable little girl on the cover of the boxart looks exactly like one of our adopted daugthers. There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our more than eight years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
