Production (US): The Baby Miracle Learning Company, FlagDay Productions Distribution (US): Hart Sharp Video, LLC., NYC Viewed on: The Baby Miracle Learning Company DVD This video developed for infants and toddlers with 33.17 minutes of actual programming, excluding 20 seconds of intro and one minute four seconds of credits and including the two minutes ten seconds of song at the end, presents a delightful and light-hearted tour through the account of Noah and the ark which God had Noah build to provide safety for all animals while the Great Flood "cleansed" the Earth of those who were disobedient to God. The only instance of concern for parents in this video might be the Bible tale of the Great Flood wiping out all life except for Noah and his family [Gen. 6:5 - 8]. Though the Great Flood actually happened, the story of many people being drowned because of their disobedience to God may be a disturbing story for toddlers [Gen. 6:14 - 19, 7:4, 7-22]. That we are all disobedient to God may frighten toddlers who are able to discern that because of disobedience God drowned all the people on the planet. While the video carefully but accurately addresses the subject, inquisitive kids might ask tough questions about the Great Flood you will have to address. The video also reminds us of the rainbow God placed after the Great Flood to show us of His Promise to never flood the Earth again [Gen. 8:21]. Baby Miracle: Noah's Ark displays a vast "library" of animals to help toddlers learn about life God placed on our world. In addition, the producers built a set of animal video flash cards to help toddlers learn of our worldly companions. A non-captioned sing-along is provided as well. One of the strong learning features of this video is using ample time while showing many short videos of a great number of animals, each captioned with the animal's name. This format provides an excellent opportunity for toddlers to learn about the animals God gave us. Early exposure of infants to animal imagery should play an important role in their development, too. The content of Baby Miracle: Noah's Ark video earned a final score of 98 with an almost negligible influence density, placing it near the top of the scoring range earned by G-rated movies (100 to 87 out of 100) in the comparative baseline database. There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our more than eight years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
