SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

If Scriptural references appear, the full text appears at the end of the Summary / Commentary likely using a mix of KJV and NIV.

AMERICAN PIE 2 (R) -- one can easily guess at which age stratum American Pie 2 is targeted.

With scores of 97 in Wanton Violence/Crime and 100 in Murder/Suicide (100 is the best score possible), and with zero in each of Impudence/Hate (mostly due to foul language), Sex/Homosexuality and Drugs/Alcohol, one can easily guess at which age stratum American Pie 2 is targeted. Please be warned that such a vulgar movie makes for a vulgar commentary if the commentary is to be honest and accurate and give you what you need to know to make an informed decision whether a flick is fit or not. I will do my best to provide accuracy while minimizing the vulgarity.

American Pie 2 is just another slice of the same pie, just as molded. Even the scoring distribution of this newer version is nearly parallel to that of the first American Pie:

I watched 44 minutes of the first American Pie but all of American Pie 2 and the final scores are one point apart: 41 and 40. Since the CAP analysis model mathematically incorporates the length of the subject of analysis into the 33 mathematical operations performed in each report, the paralellity of the scoring distribution as well as the final scores are evidence that American Pie and American Pie 2 were morally parallel. If the writers and producers were trying to make a morality, rather IMmorality clone of the first American Pie, they were successful. And the underage attendance density to American Pie 2 appeared to be about the same as it appeared to be for American Pie--nearly as many under 17, mostly male, as 17 to 21. Doesn't "mostly male" also say something about audience targeting?

Some of the same crew, I won't even name them, from the first American Pie do more of the same, just in a different location and a couple years older but still teens. They are college age now but still minors. But I guess college means "adult" to 19 year olds as far as drinking is concerned. I though the legal drinking age was 21 -- in every state of the Union. And except for one there were no parents ... anywhere. She, the mother of one of the five quintessential teen boys, was the sexual partner of one of them.

And as was expected by the trailers and previews, the licentious revelry of American Pie continues in American Pie 2. American Pie 2 provides even more, much more of a father encouraging sexual immorality in his son [Luke 17:2]. American Pie 2 is also 69.3 examples per hour of foul language [Prov. 17:20], 62.5 examples per hour of sexual immorality [Gal. 5:19] and 11.8 examples per hour of drinking and drunkenness [Eph. 5:18; Gal. 5:21].

Among the sexually immoral programming were lusting for lesbian exhibitionism by ostensibly heterosexual males [Rom. 1:26], masturbation, pelvic thrusts into a mattress to test it for its intended use, nudity -- all manner of sexual immorality [Jude 7]. Among the programming involving alcohol abuse was lots of teen drinking and drunkenness. The loss of nearly all the starting 100 points in Impudence/Hate was due to foul and vulgar language including 50 uses of the most foul of the foul words plus 72 uses of the rest of the three/four letter word vocabulary.

The only Wanton Violence/Crime issue was a breaking and entering. While such abuse of alcohol as was presented in American Pie 2 as acceptable and expected in this teen flick is illegal and could constitute loss of points in Wanton Violence/Crime, the CAP analysis model will not permit loss of points in two or more investigation areas for the same item. All alcohol abuse issues were incorporated into Drugs/Alcohol. Even if the illegal alcohol activities were incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime instead of Drugs/Alcohol, the final score would not change, just the scoring distribution (the thermometers).

There was no plot to this yet additional episode of lowering our threshold of acceptance and decay of morality. To try to discuss a plot would elevate this licentious piece of revelry to more than it is. And the few, very few matters of righteous and proper behavior are no more than a mask and do not deserve mentioning. Besides, as far as the CAP analysis model is concerned any "entertainment" or "redeeming values" a movie may possess are up to you, the parent/grandparent.

Although I would not list the findings for the first American Pie in the Findings/Scoring section, I will list the findings for this version -- as vulgar and lengthy as it is -- so you will have all of the objective truth about it so you can make an informed decision whether it is your kind of "entertainment" by your own standards. Please remember the focus of this ministry is to give you the truth about a movie so you can decide on your own whether it is fit for your little ones which include uncleaved teens. But there is no reason why you cannot use this service and the findings it provides to make that judgment for your own entertainment diet. The Findings/Scoring section will provide the listing of all the findings made ... ALL of them. If you are offended by even polite text describing vulgarity, go no further than the Scriptural Applications section.

  • Luke 17:2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. [cause by teaching or example]
  • Prov. 17:20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse [obstinate in opposing the norm or the accepted] tongue [lashown {law-shone'}: language] falleth into mischief.
  • Gal. 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
  • Eph. 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
  • Gal. 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
  • Rom. 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
  • Jude 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

    *******Food for Thought*******
  • 1 Cor. 15:33 (KJV) Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. (NIV) Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.
  • Jude 4 For certain men* whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. NOTE: The CAP Analysis Model makes no scoring allowances for trumped-up "messages" to excuse or for manufacturing of justification for aberrant behavior or imagery, or for camouflaging such ignominy with "redeeming" programming. Disguising sinful behavior in a theme plot does not excuse the sinful behavior of either the one who is drawing pleasure from the sinful display or the practitioners demonstrating the sinful behavior. This is NOT a movie review service. It is a movie analysis service to parents and grandparents to tell them the truth about movies using the Truth.

"There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I aplaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our five-year study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings.

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
