Production (US): Cloud Ten Pictures, Act of Media Distribution (US): Cloud Ten Pictures Director(s): Andre van Heerdon Producer(s): Peter LaLonde, Kevin Sorbo, Michale Walker Writing Credits: Andre van Heerdon Cinematography/Camera: Los Angleses - Benjamin Kantor; Santa Monica - Douglas Picard; Irving, TX - Berg Productions; Ontario, CA - Dave Lostraco; Boston, Austin, Dallas - Ron Kolumbus Music: Anthony and Adam Mancini Film Editing: Steve Hutchings Viewed at Cloud Ten Online Screening Room The 12 Biggest Lies is a production atypical of the genre to which the CAP Ministry is accustomed. It is not a standard "movie" or "Saturday night flick." It is almost a documentary, a rather informational discussion more than entertainment. But entertaining it truly is. That The 12 Biggest Lies is not typical of the genre to which the CAP Ministry is accustomed is not a problem for the CAP Analysis Model because the CAP Analysis Model is applicable to any system or vehicle which imparts information to an observer which requires the observer to learn, to form an opinion, or which elicits emotion(s) or value judgment(s) in the observer. The 12 Biggest Lies fits those parameters well. The 12 Biggest Lies is a thought-provoking and eye-opening journey into the truth. It almost qualifies as an exposé and dares to challenge some old and worn out beliefs we have been fed for a long, long time. From the Cloud Ten Pictures website for The 12 Biggest Lies I offer the following: Follow popular actor KEVIN SORBO (Hercules, Andromeda, SOUL SURFER) as he introduces some of the world's leading scientists, historians, theologians, philosophers and authors, as they tackle the world's 12 BIGGEST LIES. Twelve world-changing issues are addressed in intricate detail. Issues such as what is the truth, does God exist, how old is the Earth and are men and women equal? The film is not a check-your-brain-at-the-door excursion into escape from reality but instead requires the observer to be a thinking person founded in reality. Enquiring minds want to know ... the truth. The 12 Biggest Lies will help. Because The 12 Biggest Lies is atypical of the vast majority of films we are used to, the format and content of this report are atypical. It would be difficult to summarize and comment to any extent on that which this film has to say without spoiling it thoroughly. After what we reveal about the content of The 12 Biggest Lies, you might yet choose to watch this film, so I will not provide the typical summary/commentary of the "story and/or plot." I will rather get straight into that which you, mom and dad, might want to know before deciding whether to expose your "little ones" (mikros which, by definition, includes at-home teens) to it. With a final score of 94 out of 100, The 12 Biggest Lies falls squarely in the range of scores earned by G-rated films (87 to 100 out of 100) in the comparative baseline database. Indeed, five of the six CAP investigation areas (W, I, S, D, O, M) found content to be well within the "G-equivalent" scoring range. Also noteworthy is the Infleunce Density figure of 0.11. G-rated films in the comparative baseline database earned infleunce density figures of 0.00 to 0.23, thus confirming the "G-ness" of this film. But an investigation area score of 78 in the Sexual Immorality (S) investigation area makes the content in that area "PG-equivalent.". Because "one or more" of the six investigation area scores is between 55 and 86 out of 100 the film earned the yellow CAPCon Alert light. Had the content earned just nine more points in Sexual Immorality the film would have garnered the rare green CAPCon Alert light because all six investigation area scores would have been 87 and above. Wanton Violence/Crime (W) - 91 out of 100 The only matters related to violence found by this investigation area were the image of death due to the collection of human skulls, a pre-impact short video of the NYC 9-11 World Trade Center attack and a lengthy discussion of violence and killing with images of violence. While each image and claim was real life, violence is violence and each exposure to it takes its toll on the observer. God warned us that violent influence on a man can "leadeth him into the way that is not good." [Prov. 16:29] Without knowing it, four professional public health agencies confirmed what God had told us 2000 years ago. Impudence/Hate (I) - 97 out of 100 No one shouted obscenities at anyone. Indeed, there were no uses of the three/four letter word vocabulary nor even euphemisms of them. Hatred was limited to that which might be inherent with, for example, images of civil unrest. [Prov. 15:17] Sexual Immorality (S) - 78 out of 100 An image of a sensuously dressed young woman was used specifically for her appeal. A homosexual pair are seen holding hands. A couple women are seen surrounding a discussion of transgenderism. And a magazine cover shows a woman nude from the waist up. Though these images were clearly incorporated to fortify the script and discussion, they portray sinful desires and behaviors that might implant into the observer in the wrong way. [1 John 2:16] Drugs/Alcohol (D) - 97 out of 100 A scene is shown with a character cutting illegal drugs and shooting up. These are dangerous scenes which may strengthen what is being said but have the potential to influence the observer, especially the young observer. Offense to God (O) - 100 out of 100 There were no instances of content that abuse God's name, promote cultism or occultism, Satanism, sorcery, witchcraft or any other evil practice. Murder/Suicide (M) - 100 out of 100 No murders or suicides were found. SCRIPTURAL APPLICATION(S) If needed to focus or fortify, applicable text is underlined or bracketed [ ] or bold. There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
