Solaris (PG-13) -- Commentary only I dozed off a couple times in Solaris so I will not be calculating the scoring for it since I missed an unknown number of minutes of some of the likely attacks on morality and ethics. But I will let you know that this, yet another PG-13, which is sure to be an R-13, contains full nudity with inappropriate touch in the act of foreplay, intercourse with nudity and other instances of nudity with additional examples of long-sequence intercourse. It presented the most foul of the foul words [Col. 3:8] plus God's name in vain WITH the four letter expletive [Deut. 5:11]. It seems a psychiatrist, who "caused" his wife's suicide by disapproving of her aborting their baby without even telling him about it, was given back his wife while orbiting a space station around Solaris. Knowing the apparition that looked like his wife was fake since she was dead, was millions of miles away and did not come with him on the trip, he killed her. Then she returned again. Then the matters got sexual again as he submitted to the pleasures provided by whatever it was that brought her back. It was slow and uneventful. Much like 2001: A Space Odyssey. And, from what I saw, it was quite full of sexual immorality [Gal. 5:19]. And it is there for your 13 year olds and younger. In the minds of the MPAA anyway, which have apparently become morally brain dead. Maybe this is what the MPAA is trying to teach our children? Whether intentional or not, they are teaching such behavior is acceptable by example. And since they tell your kids (whether intentional or not) that such entertainment programming is acceptable for 13 year old kids, they are uspurping you through dissonance. With whom do you think your 13 year olds kids are most likely to side? That which "everybody else" gets to see or what you think is best for them? Dissonance is one of the greatest victory tools available. Satan has been using it for years. He has used it to convince a lot of people he does not exist. He has used it to convince a lot of people God does not exist. He has used it to convince a lot of people God's Word is optional and debatable. He has convinced a lot of people that it is okay to have sex outside of and before marriage. He has convince a lot of people ....... | "There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our nearly seven years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings. |
