Kindergarten Cop lost heavily in the area of Wanton Violence/Crime, mainly due to the use of firearms to intimidate (particularly against children), kidnapping of a child, and a gun battle with a police officer with a child in the danger zone. Frequent use of inappropriate language drained the Impunity/Hate score(1). While foul language (three/four letter word vocabulary) was present in the movie, so was the use of God's name in vain with and without the three/four letter word vocabulary(2). Of particular violence was a criminal pointing a firearm at a child hostage while physically holding the child against his will. Sex/Homosexuality lost some points because of the typical brinkmanship of nudity in PG-13 movies, showing as much skin "as the law allows" brinking on the edge of full exposure of private zones and flash exposure of private zones. Murder/Suicide lost points due to graphic visual evidence of bullets hitting a victm's body with the perpetrator showing a blase attitude about killing someone, just like hardcore actual murderers having no remorse about killing their victims -- and some people wonder where hardcore murderers get their blase attitude.
The ChildCare Action Project findings for Kindergarten Cop are as follows.
In accordance with the comparative baseline data, Kindergarten Cop was equivalent to R material in Wanton Violence/Crime and Impunity/Hate. It was equivalent to PG material in Sex/Homosexuality and Offense to God. Kindergarten Cop was equivalent G material in Drugs/Alcohol and Murder/Suicide.
Below is the table showing the scoring in each of the Investigation Areas plus the Final Score drawn from the actual CAP Report. In addition, the number of examples per hour of unacceptable material in each of the Investigation Areas is provided.
(1) As noted in CAP Special Report-0001, "Investigation Area Scoring and Trend," Impunity/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. I pray you will find time to read Special Report-0001. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.
(2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Impunity/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name in vain with and without the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area.
