Death Wish II was so filled with examples of unacceptable material in Wanton Violence/Crime, Impunity/Hate*, and Sex/Homosexuality which occurred so rapidly in bursts that a completely accurate accounting of each occurrence was not possible with the equipment available. Also, most of the instances of unacceptable behavior encroached into more than one CAP Investigation Area. It is the intent of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model (the CAP Model) to assign an example of unacceptable material to only one Investigation Area: the area presenting the most negative impact. However, so many examples of unacceptable material in Death Wish II involved more than one CAP Investigation Area which further confused accurate accounting. It is safe to assume the scores shown in Wanton Violence/Crime, Impunity/Hate*, and Sex/Homosexuality are higher than they should be.
* As noted in CAP Special Report-0001, "Investigation Area Scoring and Trend," impunity/hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. If you have not had an opportunity to read Special Report-0001, I pray you will find time to do so. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.
Death Wish II lost most of its points in Wanton Violence/Crime due to graphic violence, rape with nudity, gang attack of helpless people, and murder in the name of vengence. Most of the Impunity/Hate points were lost due to the arrogant brutality (fondling a helpless woman with a childlike mentality, gang-style threats of sexual invasion, forced oral sex with the attacker, and rapes with saddism) and due to exceptionally foul language.*
* While foul language (the three/four letter word vocabulary) is acounted for in Impunity/Hate, the use of God's name in vain, with or without the three/four letter word vocabulary, is accounted for in Offense to God.
The ChildCare Action Project findings for Death Wish II are as follows.
In accordance with the comparative baseline data, Deathwish II was R material in Wanton Violence/Crime, Impunity/Hate, Sex/Homosexuality, and Murder/Suicide. It was PG material in Drugs/Alcohol and Offense to God.
Below is the table showing the scoring in each of the Investigation Areas plus the Final Score drawn from the actual CAP Report. In addition, the number of examples per hour of unacceptable material in each of the Investigation Areas is provided.
