EXECUTIVE SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

"SLC Punk" (R, 1999) -- this movie has a way with word. No, not "wordS." Just word -- the most foul of the foul words. And the movie exudes freedom from accountability, authority, and consequences, at least in the first 37 minutes. I cannot tell you about the movie after the first 37 minutes.

It was punk in every sense of punk. Anarchy was the goal. Want of disregard for any rule of any kind in any way. I wonder if these young anarchists understand that if they gained a society with no rules or laws to restrict them, there would be no rules or laws to restrict others and they would lose protection under the law.

The most foul word was used in just about every verbal sentence or paragraph of dialogue or monologue. There was partial nudity, cartoon nudity, satanic hand gestures, flippin' the bird at parents and yelling ....... at them. Punk mayhem with crowd-wide bird flipping, and booze were part of the first 37 minutes, as were punk dress, promotion of rebellion, and more vulgar gestures.

Slams against Christianity and the Word included "Are you Jesus? I AM Jesus." and "Town of God."

The moulage artists did a great job with gangrene and tissue necrosis. This, combined with a beating, flashes of knife swallowing, and gore dripping off the screen were all the programming of violent nature noted in the first 37 minutes. There were issues of impudence which were violent in nature, but the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model will not permit incorporation of a single act of aberrant behavior into more than one Investigation Area (points can be subtracted in only one area -- no duplication is assured).

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
