EXECUTIVE SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

WARNING: I must tell you this up front. This report speaks to the ugliness, evil and vulgarity found in "Natural Born Killers." While there is no foul language in this report, it is impossible to be accurate with this movie without the report being intense. The bottom line: "Natural Born Killers" is a movie with all manner of corruptive influence right out of the smoking pits of Hell. I am most uncomfortable with giving you this report, but as much as I would like to ignore this and other extremes of the American culture I cannot. Paul didn't ignore the extremes in Corinth.

"Natural Born Killers" (R, 1994) - an unnatural and most vile production indeed. The central actress in this movie played the other sister in "The Other Sister" but in this movie she was NOT the sweet, humble, and wise young lady she was in "The Other Sister." Typically, R-rated movies require about four pages of recording logs to annotate all the ignominy. "Natural Born Killers" required 10, four more than even "The Basketball Diaries." Recall if you will that "The Basketball Diaries" (R, 1994) was a movie suspected of having an influence on the decision of a young student to shoot several classmates. "Natural Born Killers" was a movie reported by a newscaster from, I believe, ABC on April 21, 1999 as being a movie a pair of school shooters watched "over and over."

The theme of "Natural Born Killers" might be invisible to some. It might be subliminally faint to others. And it might be cloudy but visible to yet others. It was clear to me -- a predator/prey theme; a hunter/hunted theme; a theme in which there is always a victor and a loser, a survivor and a death. The numerous flash scenes fortified the theme very well. Many were of predatory animals and insects stalking or feeding on their prey. Also, flash scenes of copulation between animals and between insects gave credence to the predator/prey theme finding: an aggressor/submitter -- the same concept, just no deaths. Other flash scenes included Satan spitting up blood, gore, torture, killing, bloodied people, and of most evil beings. Satan and/or horned people flashed more than once into this movie from Hell. All flash scenes were of evil, hatred, brutality, murder, death or other most negative influence, or were scenes of contrast with these negativities -- always was negativity. A "nutshell" comment by the quintessential character, Mickey, was "It's just murder, man. All God's creatures do it." With that comment came a long discourse on his claims of the benefits, blessings, and positive elements of murder. Many scenes and sequences in the movie portrayed glorification and praise of the murdering duo.

The number "666" appeared more than once in this movie. Foul language, including God's name in vain with the four letter expletive and the most foul of foul words were as frequent as raindrops in a storm. Evil background music, some by Nine Inch Nails (I wonder why they chose "nine inch nails"), fortified the bizarre and horror properties of "Natural Born Killers." Murder by gunfire, knife, beating, and tire iron appeared at least 30 times: so many were of multiple victims so I must say the actual total is uncountable. The "Bonnie and Clyde" characters in the movie, Mickey and Mallory Knox, claimed to have killed 52 in three weeks.

Sexual vulgarities were as thick as tree sap. Nudity, sadomasochism, sensual dance, and vulgar sexual comments freckled the choreography like salt on popcorn. Sexual improprieties in the movie included dialogue between acting characters about child molestation, sexual abuse, and sexual desires for children. One instance of sexual vulgarities in "Natural Born Killers" included Mallory masturbating Mickey while sitting in a prison visitation area. Sexual bondage in sadomasochism was part of the corruptive properties of this movie.

This movie analysis will remain posted with the others on the opening screen for a while. After that, it will be buried in the archive, or trashed. I haven't decided yet. I will likely trash it unless someone can convince me it can/will be used to 1) serve our Lord's Perfect Will, or 2) assist in determining why kids kill kids.

  • daughter expressing joy at her father's murder
  • multiple sequences of people world-wide praising and glorifying the two murderers

  • general theme of arrogance against fair authority
  • a man hitting a woman
  • flash scenes of child abuse, hatred from the father, hatred from the mother
  • saying about murder "So I made a mistake."
  • threats by a cop to cut off the breasts of the female criminal

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication. As required of the Holy Scriptures, unless God's name is used with reverence to His glory and praise, its use is considered in vain, whether literal or euphemistic.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Presentation of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
